Kangaroo Island is the oldest bee sanctuary in the world and is home to the purest strain of Ligurian Bee. 

Island Beach, on the island’s north-east coast, is a pristine stretch of white sand and turquoise water, backed by dunes and native coastal heath. The low-rainfall environment produces tough, shrubby plants that thrive in sandy soils—providing vital habitat and forage for native birds, bees, and other pollinators.
